Inspiration: Horizontal pleats

Inspiration comes and goes, and while I always have at least a dozen ideas of garments in my head, the ones I focus on the most (and eventually get to make) change constantly.
Right now, I really want something with horizontal pleats, which could be a recreation of the Ver-dance With Me top from Modcloth or a Pastille dress from Colette. We'll see!

p.s. A little update on the Chloe pattern: I wrote I had some fit issues in the armscye area and Kristiann from Victory Patterns was kind enough to let me know that the sleeveless version of the pattern does have a low armscye (it becomes higher if you put the sleeve in... I hope it makes sense). Keep it in mind if you're thinking to tackle this pattern.

  1. for a novice/beginner sewer like me i use horizontal pleats to lengthen or shorten a skirt or tops. But id like to try making a bodice of a dress or blouse using horizontal pleating/pintucking. this simple tutorial of C&C gives me a wonderful idea how, for a newbie like me
that ver-dance me top is lovely because of the peter pan collar added drama to the blouse. u know im a peter pan addict. heheh!
    happy weekend!

  2. I'd love to see what you do with horizontal tucks!

  3. Oh I love all your choices; I'm mad for the pleats at the moment! Have you seen the Salme patterns on Etsy? They're very similar to the styles you've picked with the pleats. Check it out

    1. Yup! I completely forgot to put it in!
I posted an interview with Elisa, the designer of Salme Patterns a bit back if you're interested to know more!

  4. Agreed - Horizontal tucks are such an elegant way to add a little "somethin somethin" to a piece - can't wait to see what you do!

  5. Ciao,

    1. Grazie Letizia, che bel messaggio! Tu non hai un blog?

  6. In realtà ci sto lavorando,ne ho avuti diversi ma ora vorrei farne uno meglio organizzato!
Non appena sarà pronto verrò a lasciarti l'indirizzo! :-)

  7. I'm totally inspried to make a blouse with the horizontal pleats or a skirt with them as a hem detail!

  8. I like anything with pleats and ruffles but the feline printed dress is just lovely. I'm also really into quirky prints right now - birds, florals, etc.
